Weather

Hello Parents,
This week we are learning about weather and it's different patterns of change. We are going to investigate:

1. What causes the change in weather?
2. How is it predicted?
3. What causes natural disasters?

Learning about weather is a part of our TEKS and your child should be able to identify patterns of change such as weather.

In the activity Severe Weather Challenge you and your child act as junior weather interns who take different challenges helping people to earn points. At the end of the game if you earn enough points you become an expert. This game challenges your weather knowledge as you apply it to different situations.

Wild Weather Adventure is a great activity that tests your knowledge of weather. As your air ship moves along on the game board you answer weather questions to move further along until you find the end of the map.

In What's the Forecast? you and your child can click on different real life satellite images and learn how meteorologist predict weather with the pictures. As you click on each picture the site gives you a detailed information on how the weather is moving and what you are looking at.

Earth Day

Parents,

Earth day is coming this week and your kiddos are learning how to make good choices for our earth. Learning about making these choices is in the science TEKS(Texas Essential knowledge and Skills). This week we will be answering these questions:

1. What is recycling really all about?

2. What are other ways we can help save the earth?

3. How important is water to us?

4. How can one person can make a huge difference?

The first activity is about recycling. In Michael, Michael Go Recycle you and your kiddo can help Michael go around and pick up trash in a park and get the litter bug before time runs out. This is a fun interactive activity that not only displays the importance of picking up trash, but it also allows sorting for the different types of waste to be recycled.

The next activity I Don't Want to Clean My Room! is something all kids can relate to. This is a great activity that starts with a story and ends with a fun game. As you read the comic book like story you learn the different types of items that can be recycled and reused. At the end of the story you help clean a room and recycle unwanted waste.

In the game Tip Tank you learn lot of easy water saving tips. In this activity you play the matching game and as you click on each square to guess the matching pair you learn helpful, easy tips you can use around the house each day to conserve water.

WELCOME!

Welcome to Ms. Bree's science play world. Here you will be able to use science at home with your child and learn what is going on in our science class each week. This site will help you support your child at home with exciting and engaging ways to build on what we are learning in class. Each week I will up date the site with games and information we are learning in class. So get ready to get involved and lets have some fun!
